Why does my scalp itch so much?
-
Don't say anything about lice because my mother took me to the doctor for that and they didn't find anything. I don't have dandruff... None of that... So why does my scalp itch so much?

Answer:
could be an allergic reaction to something... what have you changed from the normal, or tried that was new? food, perfume, make up, drinks, shampoos, conditioners, hair dyes, a pet, new kind of material from clothes, it could be anything... if you have been stressed out, it could be nerves... if you can't figure it out on your own, see a dermatologist... take care, and good luck, barb

I agree with Barbara, she's one smart lady you know....To realkalise the PH level of your skin on your scalp and eliminate the ghastly itching put 1 - 2 inches of white vinegar into a 2 litre bottle and fill with warm water... Get in the shower and wet your hair, then simply pour the vinegar mix slowly and intermittently over your hair (ensuring you keep your eyes closed otherwise the vinegar will burn your eyes).............. the vinegar will realkalise the ph level of your skin and make you comfortable again.......... when you have done this simply rinse your hair thoroughly and dry as normal. You are obviously using a shampoo, conditioner, hair tonic etc that you are allergic to and it is messing with the ph balance of the skin on your scalp ............... try different brands out, the best ones to buy if you can't afford the organic varities (usually really expensive) are the ones specifically designed for people with sensitive skin. The vinegar and water cure is brilliant and works instantly, it will also make your hair shine and revitalise it as never before .......... this is because the vinegar gets rid of the chemical sludge left behind in your hair by commercial varieties of hair shampoos and conditioners....... i actually can't afford to buy expensive organic or top notch products and simply use the vinegar and water mix each time i wash my hair and my hair is very silky and shiny.... no itching either. No chemicals or other nasties in the vinegar and it is very cheap and easy to do. hope this helps u peace 2 u

It could quite possibly be sweat and oil thats bothering you. Try washing your hair twice a day and see if that helps. If not , change to different shampoos.

It can be either an allergic or irritant condition. The cause may be a new shampoo, soap, hair dye, or hair product - particularly if it contains alcohol. If caused by a product most people can tolerate, it is likely you have the allergic type of dermatitis. Regardless, the mainstay of treatment is to determine the cause and remove it. In severe cases your doctor may prescribe steroid medications. Occasionally, antibiotics are required if the irritated scalp becomes infected.
