How can you tell if you broke your finger?

How can you tell the difference if you sprained your finger or if you broke your finger?

  • Answer:

Well when your fingures broken, you won't be able to move it at all, and if you feel it, it'll feel like the bone is out of place, when it's sprained, you'll be able to move at least a little bit, and if you feel it then you'll feel the bone all right but it may hurt alot when you touch it!

broken ones tend to swell more and hurt a lot more.

You would most likely notice by how much pain you have...any crookedness in your finger, etc. If you really can't tell, go to the doctors or the hospital and you may need an x-ray.

A sprain is actually more painful than a break. If it's broken, it will probably look disfigured, can you bend it (even though it probably hurts to do so) if you absolutely can't bend it, it's probably broken.

I'm no DR but I think the only way you can tell for certain is to get it x-rayed. Even then I have heard that you can't set a broken finger, just put a splint on it. Good luck!

A sprain you can move your finger but it hurts real bad. A broken finger you can't move

It hurts when you type "go to the doctors".

You really need to get an xray. Can you go to your local emergency room or doctor's office? That would probably be wise. Good luck with that.
