Why do your eyes get red when you're tired?

Why do we get baggy eyes and dark rings when we're tired?

  • Answer:

My thought is that as we get tired (and progressively worse) the body is attempting to do what is asked of it. If we continue to ask for more, something has to give, that being the muscle and skin tone in non-essential areas. (such as under the eyes) I consider it the bodies way of conserving energy. I once worked for 38 hours straight, and when I stopped it took me a week of normal rest to lose the bags. I slept the first time for over 10 hours (I think) and still couldn't think straight or really hold a conversation.

Dirt, dust, and the usual bacteria of life. Look as the rays of the sun as they illuminate the air. I'm going to try tears free shampoo on my eyelashes soon, join me.

Let me know when you find out. I know that ice wrapped in a towel can reduce swelling whether the swelling is caused by allergies, a punch to the face or tiredness. I don't know why being tired causes the same effects as being socked in the face though. Great question...you got a star. Now where are the professionals???
