How can I improve the grip on my shoes?

Brand new shoes have no grip & are dangerous on tiles - any solutions?

  • I brought some gorgeous new high heeled shoes to wear to work, but the shop I bought them in was all carpeted so I didnt realise they had no grip underneath... I went to wear them on Monday and when I stepped onto tiles I was slipping all over the place. The heel is fine its just the front part that slides. Does anyone know how I can fix this? Can you buy stick on grip for underneath the shoe? Please help - I dont want to return the shoes.

    I recommend sole pads made by Sure Tred - they're safe to use on dress shoes, protect against slipping on carpets, tile, AND wet/icy surface, and don't leave marks on tile or wooden floors. You can also check out Foot Aid and Shine Rite brands. Check your local shoe store (Off Broadway, Payless, Shoe Carnival) or the foot aisle at your local pharmacy.

I always get some coarse sand paper and sand the bottom a little. It takes away that smooth surface and makes the sole have a little bit of traction. You can also take them out on a rough concrete sidewalk and rub the bottoms good.

Duct tape the bottom of your shoe and then you should not slip when wearing it...

Sure do! Even if they are $250 plus heels, you have too!! Take a piece of sandpaper and rough up the bottom. This one works! I wear heels daily to the office on a marble floor. This one is a trick from my grandmother! It really works! Good Luck!!

score the bottom with a really shape knife... that's what I do

either score the bottoms or use 2 sided tape (but it will wear off)
