What should I look like on the first day of school?

Why is everyone so concerned on how they look the first day of school?

  • Why is everyone making school into such a big deal? You've been going your whole life what does it matter what you're wearing? You are just going to be seeing the same people you've been going to school with since you were five. I, am going to be wearing gray workout shorts and the biggest black t-shirt I own with my hair in a ponytail and look like a bum. But if I was in your class you wouldn't just ignore me because I look comfortable or bumlike if I started talking to you, would you? If I put effort into my outfit the first day of school I wouldn't glare at you or think you were lazy because you didn't care what your "first day outfit" was. So what does it matter?

    we want to make a good impression. some people are going to new schools, so there are new people to meet! some outfits make them look more approchable. also, many of us have changed a lot over the summer, and we want to show that in a good way. some people come back after summer break completely different people, and they want to showcase that.. hope this helps answer your question

Because it's fun and sometimes you want to make a good impression. I don't know about you, but our school is pretty big, so you meet someone new every day. So, no, I'm not seeing the same people I have since I was five.

When people dress in baggy sweats, t-shirts, with a messy ponytail, it gives the impression that they don't care how they look, therefore don't really care about themselves. Yes, you're right, if someone was wearing that the first day of school, I probably wouldn't give them a second look because they probably aren't enthusiastic about school or excited to see their friends they haven't seen in a few months. That is basically the point of getting excited over the first day of school outfit. You haven't seen a lot of your friends, and most likely you've grown taller, lost weight, or something about you has changed, and you want to make a nice entrance into school the first day with a sophisticated look. Especially if you're going into high school for the first time, you want to make a good impression with the teachers, the older students, your friends, etc. When you get a job in the future, and you dress in sweats and a tshirt, they probably won't think twice about hiring you. Outward appearance is a huge part of how people treat you and it shows how you feel about yourself. It sort of sucks, but that's how it is. And yeah, I agree with a previous answerer. When you're in school, you're constantly meeting new people, unless you're in a tiny school, so when someone meets you for the first time, you want to look presentable and confident, not slouchy and reserved. Especially in high school, where you only know about 50 people out of the 800 (at least) that go there.

NOT ANYMORE. at least for me i can care lesess crap how i look. i used to stay up waiting to go t oschool the next day but now i dont speak to anyone or like anyone from schoo l so i don t care anymore
