I don't know much about it but it sounds like you could just cut a triangle of denim on either side [at the bottom] and sew shut. It sounds like you parents are too old to be dressing you, but they do make skinny jeans for guys. Also if the leg is wide they'll just look tapered but I'm sure you know that.
