CT scan for Chronic Sinusitis?
-
My primary doctor ordered a CT scan for possible Chronic Sinusitis which I had done. She then called me and said I had Chronic Sinusitis. I just had my appt w/ an ENT doctor and he looked at my CT scan results and said that I don't have sinusitis or that all my sinuses are fine. He scheduled me for deviated septum surgery in a month and said he wasn't sure it would cure my episodes of sinsusitis. The problem with me is my sleep. I haven't had a good night's sleep in years. I can't breathe. Head is always stuffy, ears too. Always feel spacey and my head always feels swollen, something like sinsusitis makes a lot of sense. I was wondering if the surgery is going to help if I don't really have sinsusitis which one doctor said I had and the other said I don't. Confused.

Answer:
I was having the very same problem as you and my ENT did the deviated septum surgery on me. It didnt work and I still have problems. If I were you I would get another opinion before I had that surgery because it hurts like HE11. Have you ever been to see an allergist? It could be that. Best of luck to you.

Before you get surgery try all possible solutions first! First:Testing Get an allergy test! This might be the underlying cause of your symptoms. If you test positive for allergies or allergy disease then implement procedures to suppress them, this will lessen your sinusitis outbreaks. Allergy pills, or Allergy shots, air quality improvement, special bed sheets, etc. *Try Sinus nasal saline rinse for nasal irrigation. NeilMed sinus rinse is a brand you can get it at Walgreen. Rinse your sinuses out with warm salt water. Inhale by the teaspoon. Its okay if it runs down your throat. Blow out but not too hard. Now rinse with plain warm water and blow again. The salt will kill any infection up there. Take some echinacea-1000mg 4 or 5 times a day for 3 or 4 days to ramp up your immune system. You could be allergic to mold or dust and that's what's irritating your sinuses. Start taking a teaspoon of LOCAL honey each day to help your body develop immunities to any air born irritant around you. Like all herbal remedies, it will take a while to become effective but you will notice that you don't get many colds or flu symptoms. Be careful of doctors who want to operate on you-some will do it just for the money. Take your time deciding if you want an operation. If the symptoms don't go away in a month or two after you start taking local honey, then you should get a second opinion on the deviated septum.
