How to avoid infection from a burn?

Are their any other ways to avoid infection after ear piercing other than using that disinfectant?

  • i just got my ears pierced an hour ago and i hated the earrings that were in. i knew that you arent supposed to take them out for risk of infection, but i risked it. i made sure everything was clean and i was careful. are there any other steps other than using taht disinfectant to avoid infection (i.e. taking ibuprofen) ? and if i did cause an infection how long will it take for me to notice its infected?

  • Answer:

You will notice within about a day or two if it was infected. They will turn bright red and probably secrete pus or crust up. Make sure you wash your hands EVERY time you touch your ears. Try to keep shampoo away from them because it dries them out. Most piercing places give you a bottle of after care to clean them with, clean them twice a day. New piercings are bacteria breeding grounds because it is an open wound in a closed area so you have to be careful about handling them. It may take them longer to heal than normal. Just keep an eye on them and call the piercing studio if they do get infected for further instructions.
