What medical condition do you find interesting, strange, or crazy? (Trying to find a report topic)?
-
For my English class, we have to write our research paper on a medical condition. I really want to pick something that isn't too common, something I could actually be interested in. I don't want this paper to just be a drag, I want to actually care about my topic. Honestly, so far I haven't found anything that strikes me as something I would want to write about. I just need some suggestions, I don't need any information, I can look them up and decide myself if you don't want to explain. So, anyone know any diseases that are interesting, strange, crazy, etc.? I really need something I can look at and want to learn more about, something really different. BUT I do need sources so make sure it's not completely unheard of, or sources will be difficult as we cannot use internet sources. Oh, and please nothing innapropriate. I also have a lot of compassion for children, I don't know if that would help at all, but I probably would be more interested in something of that topic. Thank you!

Answer:
Meniers Disease, Shingles, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Kawasaki Disease, Lupus, etc I think any of these would be easily looked up and interesting for you. Wish you well on your report. Something I just thought of as having it myself: A mastoid tumor, then turned in to a facial nerve neuroma and now it is a acoustic neuroma. These are classified as types of brain tumors. All very interesting.

How about Lyme Disease? I was diagnosed not too long ago and let me tell you it is a crazy ride. There are many different symptoms that change from day to day. And it tends to mimick many other diseases.

Fibromyalgia, interesting because the jury is still out on what actually causes it, and some feel that its a catch-all for pain that they can't specifically diagnose.

I do find that tinnitus would make an interesting topic as there is no cure the causes are debated upon and it is quite annoying-i have it myself. It is either ringing, buzzing, pulsing (pulsatile), our echoing in the ears. It could either be subjective or objective. It is often a side effect of certain medications. It often gets worse when stressed and/or when sitting or lying in certain positions. The cause can also be as simple as wax build-up in the ear but this is not seen often. Sometimes doctors ignore it but it is becoming more well known. There is a bunch of "cures" on the internet that people spend money on-not sure if they work or not but i highly doubt it. Some say it is even psychological. ( i did learn about it in psychology class) Apparently white noise can temporarily relieve the sounds. Hope this helps. goodluck
