What can i take to ease the pain of heartburn? zantac not working!?

  • i'm having severe heartburn from doxycycline burning a hole in my chest. my doctor gave me nexium but it hasn't kicked in yet. zantac and mylanta have done nothing. the pain is brutal. i've barely eaten in 3 days. what can i take to ease the pain so i can eat??

    Nexium and Zantac are the strongest heartburn medicines you can take. If those don't work, you have serious issues. You could try Tagamet but I would suggest going back to your doctor.

I have been taking Protonix--a Rx med for a few months and it has eliminated the heartburn with no adverse side effects.

My favorite remedy is Prevacid (need Rx). I've tried almost all others and nothing else works as well.
