What is considered a low level of TSH?

Why has my TSH level changed so much? (do i have hypothyroidism???)?

• i was initially tested about 6 months back. i had a TSH of about 5.8 (my doc found this on accident during a yearly blood work) I was tested a few months later for the above reason, TSH went up to 6.8 I was sent to a endocrine doctor and tested again, this time the TSH level was 9.8 and they pescribed my meds cuz the normal TSH level on average is 1. My parents sent me to another endocrine doctor for a second opinion. This time my TSH was only around 2.... how the hell could there be such a massive fluctuation?? what could this all mean? do i have hypothyroidism or no? Im showing some symptoms such as fatigue (this hits me the worst), depression, hair loss, etc ** I have NOT taken any meds for this ever...yet. I will be getting tested in a month AGAIN.

  "they pescribed my meds cuz the normal TSH level on average is 1." Why the heck did they wait so long to treat. Sounds like Hashimoto's. You need testing for thyroid ANTIBODIES as well as TSH. TSH ‘norm’ should be .3 – 3 (w/ most feeling best at < 2) but, for diagnosis, may not mean much if ANTIBODIES are present which is indicative of Hashimoto’s Autoimmune Thyroiditis (cycles between HYPER & HYPO at start)…it is the main cause of eventual HypOthyroidism but worse (...OR Graves Disease - HypERthyroid). WARNING: Doctors seem not to want to find/treat thyroid disease. You may have to go to more than one doctor before you get the right tests, interpretation, and treatment. Best wishes.
