How Rare is Duane's Syndrome?

The dr told us that our daughter has duanes syndrome (not to be confused with downs syndrome)?

• she doesnt have a head tilt and the eyes moves twrds the nose but not to the ear. she's 6 monts old. how obbious will it be when shes older? will it disable her in any way? i'm really worried. she's so beautiful, i dont want her to look cross eyed or anything when shes older! as of now, its not TOO obvious

  Hi, I am so sorry to hear about your daughter. I was told the same thing by a doctor when my son was six months old. he could not turn his eyes out towards his ears. but they would turn to his nose fine and would be there most of the time. as he got older it became more noticeable. Thank God I didn't listen to that Doctor. He was wrong. it took alot of fighting and not putting up with their "crap" but I got him to a good Doctor and he sent him to a child specialist. when then told me it was a bad turn that could have been corrected staring right away with a patch. but my son had to have surgeory now his eyes and they are 99% better. they only turn in now when he is tired. it was the muscles were to tight and they had to cut them and stretch.. The surgery sounds worse then it is. he was back home 6 hours later and fully back to normal the next day. duanes syyndrome won't cause any disablity there is actually a doctor at our hospital who is a surgeon and he has it. there is also a operation they can do on it. but it has to wait until she is two yrs old. and before she is three. what ever you do get a second opinion. but don't worry they can fix almost anything nowadays. it will turn just fine. just have faith and pray, thats what got me thru it. you can email me anytime and I will help you all I can and tell you everything I know about it..
