How does medications help with high blood pressure?

Super High Blood Pressure! Please answer?

• My Grandmother recently had a stroke, she's 76 years old. She was admitted into the hospital her CT scan showed that 4 veins in her brain had ruptured. She went into a coma and she had cranial surgery. The surgery was successful and she was fine. But ever since she was released from the hospital her blood pressure is very high and even though she takes 3 blood pressure medications one of them being given IV, her blood pressure still won't come down. Is this somehow related to the stroke or are they completely different things? What do you think is wrong with her? How can her condition improve? PLEASE ANSWER, I WANT TO HELP HER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Thanks a bunch.
