How do I go about donating spinal fluid?

You don't donate it until it is needed. At least that is what I was told. I signed the paper work at one of those blood mobile because they were looking for a match for a little girl. They told me that if I was a match for anyone I would be contacted and then do the procedure. I guess compatibility is low for spinal fluid so they only call you if they know you are compatible. They did some blood work only. ( a lot of blood :/)

i would contact the nearest hospital and ask about necessary tests first then go from there that's a very selfless act my friend and congratulations but it is very very painful i haven't went through it myself but i have a girl friend that had cf and they had to take fluid from her She ended up getting a double lung transplant and got married a few months after im glad to say she's doing great and thats with help from people like you :)

Contact your local hospital and tell them that you want to donate spinal fluid for a patient (if he/she's a specific patient say so!!), and not for research. I've never heard of someone donating spinal fluid before, so I don't know if it's possible to do this. (It also sounds REALLY painful!! :D)

I DO IT ALL THE TIME. I GO TO THE DRUG STORE AND GET A 22 GAUGE 1 AND A HALF INCH NEEDLE AND PUT IT INTO THE BACK OF YOUR NECK AND PULL THE PLUNGER BACK. IF YOU GET BLOOD OR NO FLUID YOUR GOING TO HAVE TO DO IT AGAIN. IT WONT HURT AT ALL. MAKE SURE THE NEEDLE GOS ALL THE WAY INTO YOUR SPINE TO GET THE FLUID OUT. ONCE YOU HAVE THE NEEDLE FULL YOU GO TO YOUR NEAREST HOSPITAL AND TELL THEM WHAT YOU DID AND GIVE THE THE FLUID.
