Feeling of a lump in my throat, please help?

Lump in the throat feeling, a constant feeling of wanting to take a deep breath, and?

  • yawning at times trying to achieve the deep breath. I don't feel anxiety however the symptoms that I have listed does make me anxious. I noticed that the feeling intensifies after eating. I don't have a problem swallowing. This lump in the throat feeling also causes a stuffy ear feeling. PLEASE HELP. I DONT BELIEVE THIS IS ANXIETY OR GERD. I JUST GOT BACK FROM THE HOSPITAL AND THEY GAVE ME MAALOX, PECID AND XANAX. I TOOK THE PECID, NO RELIEF. I DONT WANT TO TAKE THE XANAX BECAUSE IT IS HIGHLY ADDICTIVE BUT WILL IF MY SENSATION DOES NOT ALLEVIATE. I GIVE 10 POINTS TO BEST ANSWER

    It is the worst feeling in the world. Your Thyroid needs to be checked. I had the same type swelling in my throat for a couple of months before I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis and PA.. I also had hot flashes and severe fatigue. If you have first line thyroid bloodwork your thyroid condition may not show up. Your Doctor needs to dig deeper. Tell your Doctor that you need the thyroid antibody test. You also need to take a Thyroid uptake test. It will test how well your Thyroid is working or if you have a tumor. You swallow a dye and the XRay tracks the dye for 24 hrs. My doctor gave me 40 mg of prednisone and I also begain taking Synthroid. The swelling stopped after a week on the medications. I was taking Prednisone for 2wks and have been on Synthroid for 6 yrs.
