    Alcoholism occurs in two forms, the social and stress drinker and the hereditary alcoholic in whom alcohol produces the same changes in the brain as a dose of heroin does in a heroin addict. In this form the patient has to refrain from all alcohol and needs rehabilitation and a support group such as AA. Actually there are more sensitive to alchol and get drunk easier than a normal person. An addiction to alcohol and its use even to their phycial and social detriment is a sign of the alcoholic.

Alcoholsm is a condition where people get addicted to alcohol this includes beer, spirits things of that sort. teh Symptoms can be misleading but you cna tell also with teh effetcs it has on the body. Gastic disorders, liver complicaitons, bad breath, fidgeting , withdrawals, skin discoloraiton. And No you cannot catch it it is not transmittable but if you believe that traits are heriditary [no conclusive findings yet] you may inherit them

It is a progressive and agressive disease;There is a lot of eveidence to support the theory that it is inherited and passed on in the genes;My Parents were both afflicted by it and I was too for a long time.It is beatable and as with all addictions difficult to break loose from it's grip,but it can be done with support and effort;Alcohol is a very powerful and dangerous substance to those (There are many) that it get's a grip on and should not be treated any different to say 'Heroin' just because it is so widely legal-like nicotine it is a very strong and distructive drug.ktfx

A choice to drink alcohol excessively to the point of addiction. No symptoms, just a pitiful drunken fool is result. No, it's not a disease so you cannot catch it, but if you're stupid enough to get drunk all the time then you can get addicted to it.
