If people see ghosts and ghosts are not real, then all people who see ghosts are schizophrenic, right?

Hmmm... Valid question. Yes, IF ghosts are not real, then people who believe that they see them have a problem. Then again, even if ghosts are real, then a person who thinks they see them but doesn't has a problem, too. If ghosts are real and a person sees them, not believing what they see is also a problem. (I believe that ghosts are real, but I don't automatically believe that every person who says "I see dead people" does see them, or even truly believes that they're seeing them. Some people are mistaken; some people lie. And some really do see dead people. Or non-physical entities of another sort. Or psychic emanations from the minds of the living, or whatever.) As for how a doctor knows whether a patient who claims to see ghosts (or other things) is crazy or really seeing them... If I knew the answer to that one, I'd have had an easier life. Only one doctor of my acquaintance -ever- admitted the possibility of a person really seeing things that other people couldn't, and she tended to believe in ghosts/non-physical entities herself, or at least believed that such -could- exist. As has been said before, being crazy doesn't preclude being psychic, and being psychic doesn't preclude being crazy. They're two separate issues, neither mutually exclusive nor synonymous. And unless it is causing problems with daily life, why should it be any doctor's business if a person believes that they see ghosts?

There are things in this world that do not yet have an explanation simply because no one has put in the time, effort, and money to research them. Maybe ghosts do exist. Maybe they don't.

I would think that the profession has evolved beyond some simple diagnosis. There are various degrees of psychosis. http://www.book-of-thoth.com/videostream-watch-114.html Psychosis Any disorder of higher mental processes of such severity that judgments pertaining to the reality of external events are significantly impaired. A wide range of conditions can bring about a psychotic state. They include schizophrenia, mania, depression, ingestion of drugs, withdrawal from drugs, liver or kidney failure, endocrine disorders, metabolic disorders, and Alzheimer's disease, epilepsy, and other neurologic dysfunctions. The dreams of normal sleep are a form of psychosis. Psychotic alterations of beliefs are called delusions. Psychotic alterations of perception are referred to as hallucinations. Psychotic states that are due to alcoholism, metabolic diseases, or other medical conditions are frequently accompanied by general mental confusion. On the other hand, psychiatric illnesses and drugs can produce hallucinations and delusions in the absence of general confusion. Few of those symptoms are unique to a particular illness, which can make proper diagnosis difficult and challenging. Correct diagnosis, however, is critical so that appropriate treatment can be provided. There are people that are ill and "see things". There are are also people that "see things" that have been proven to be true. Lets say your decesed mother comes to you and tells you of a danger. Which you react to and prevent the problem. You see the danger go by and "know" you were warned by your decesed mother. That can not be a delousion. Most people that are contacted are from loved ones. So it would be assumed that a connection between the two would need to be in place for this to happen. Schizophrenic people have a mental dissability that confuses reality with created imagination, which seem real. I for one do see spirits, many come to me. I had a large family and was close to all of them. I have also "seen" many spirits that I have never met in life. I don't have delousions of being chased or told what to do. Some only seem that they want to be close or inqusivitive. In all I don't believe all that see ghosts are sick. Neither do I believe many people that claim to see ghost are actually seeing anything. Never does a spirit come to cause harm to one, or to scare anyone. Doctors.......they are not trained to understand the spirit world, so they don't have answers to anything relating to this happening. To them if you are seeing ghost and troubled they will give you meds to get rid of the problem. I believe also that if many doctors would be honest they have had experience with patients with many telling of seeing ghost/spirits.

yes lol ur right docs dont know they only presume to know what reality is and that is so big headed its untrue lol.. so yes ur right! Psychs like to go by a materialistic-reductionist idea of the world which in fact is quite wrong.. there are many different things and experiences in the world which are unique to all of us...

How do you know ghosts are not real, has there existence be proven or dismissed? I for one believe in ghosts because of an experience my husband had. There have been times when i have seen something out of the corner of my eye or swear someone has called my name and i am the only one in the house. This did not prompt me to run to a doctor to see if i was schizophrenic. Now if u see them all the time and have regular conversations with them maybe there is a problem. But there are those in society that say they see ghosts all the time. Strange? True? who knows , but if they do talk to you and tell you to do ill harm to yourself or someone else, then consulting a doctor and medication maybe a good idea, you could be living in your own little deliusional world.
