Is this a Stomach Virus?

Could it be more than a stomach virus?

  • My 5 year old Grandson complains all the time of a stomach ache and throws up too often. Yet he doesn't have a stomach virus. Then the next thing you know he will have a stomach virus when no one else will. He's very skinny but still in the normal range of growth. His brother never does this nor does the rest of the family. It's not uncommon for him to take a few bits of food and start complaining of a belly ache. It's not uncommon for him to just throw up and go on about his play as if nothing is wrong. I don't know what else to do but take him to the Dr. but yet they always treat him as if he has a stomach virus.

  • Answer:

It could be a food allergy .. my son is lactose intolerant and it took us awhile to realize that's what was causing him to vomit often. Once we limited his dairy intake, he did just fine. Or he could be beginning cyclic vomiting syndrome. More information on CVS can be found at: http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/cvs/index.htm I hope he feels better soon!
