What are visible symptoms of Tuberous sclerosis?

What are the symptoms / risk factors for a Brain Aneurysm / Multiple Sclerosis?

  • My beloved grandmother died last Tuesday (April 13, 2010) from a ruptured brain aneurysm. She was 73 years old, she smoked, and she had MS (Multiple Sclerosis). I've done some research on Brain Aneurysms, and I learned that it is hereditary. I asked my mother if anybody on her side of the family died from one, and her Great Grandmother had. Since both my mother and father's sides have died from them, should I get checked for one? (I have frequent headaches and migraines) Also, since I don't know a lot about MS, what are some risk factors of it?

  • Answer:

MS is an auto immune disease. As with many neurological diseases the risk factors are still not fully understood. There is a hereditary element to brain aneurysms. However smoking probably quadrupled your GG's likelihood of having one. And 73 is a pretty good age. I am sorry for your loss. Try not to get to worked up about it. Don't smoke - ever. If the migraines (have they actually been diagnosed by a doctor, or is it family opinion) change or get worse, then yes, go see a doctor.
