What is thoracic dextroscoliosis?

  • i have been having terrible back and neck pain on the left at first now all over. i am 30 years old and have never felt so much discomfort. i thought it felt like there was something in my lung but now it just hurts all over my back and neck. my head does not feel supported as weird as that is. i had a 2 view x ray and it said slight thoracic dextroscoliosis. my xray looks much different than in one i had done about 7 yrs. ago. please help!

  • Answer:

Scoliosis is an abnormal curvature of the vertebral column. Thoracic means it's in the thoracic part of the column (you have a cervical part, thoracic part (meaning the part that spans your chest), lumbar and sacral part). dextroscoliosis means that this curvature is to the right. As far as I know, scoliosis does not develop after the 20s, and even if it does, I don't believe that pain such as that you're describing would fit a "slight" thoracic dextroscoliosis. You should go see a doctor, especially an orthopedic doctor.
