Has anyone ever had brain surgery?

Is there anyone out there who has had brain surgery for epilepsy? I'm trying to avoid taking meds forever.

  • I'd like info from anyone familiar with this situation. My memory has been the biggest thing that has affected me, due to long term effects of medications. Hopefully, I can get a response from a neurologist who may have some sort of insight. I'm curious. I already have a couple of neurologists at UCSF Epilepsy Research Center. I just want more input. Thanks.

  • Answer:

I work for The Epilepsy Foundation of Florida. I know several people who have had brain surgery for epilepsy, please feel free to contact me for more information about the condition. As per your question, the only way that a person should even be considered as a candidate for brain surgery to treat epilepsy is if the part of the brain that causes the seizures in that individual has been clearly identified. Is this the case with you?
