How can I not be so scared of injections?

Injections-im scared! help?

  • aaah... i've got injections very soon.. they are tetanus, diptheria and MMR... i havnt had an injection for 7 yrs, i've tried many times but freakd out lots.... i've had bad experiences with them i don't know the chance of getting the diseases if i don't take the jabs, and i don't know if there's any alternatives to these injections... or maybe there's away i could get away with my fear, but that's doubtful... please help! i look like a right kid!

  • Answer:

its not as bad as it seems, but if you have a fear of needles then it can be a problem... getting the diseases from not getting the injections can vary from where you live.. but there is always the chance of stepping on a rusty nail... there is no other alternative for these shots.. just remember it only takes a few seconds and then it is over...

Just remember that the injections are nothing compared to the desiese.

yes you look like a kid. You have to tell your self that tetanus, diphtheria and MMR are worse than having a 1 second injection. Ask the nurse to be nice doing the injection technique.

think of it like someone just pinched you and take it like a dawg...or dont get ill

Listen .. I know some people say it hurts a lot and what not ... But just think what paino you COULD go through if you didnt have those pains? Even Death? Injections dont hurt all that much and they are over in seconds!! Just dont think about it .. Close your eyes and imagine your in a better place xD

I know someone who went through life in fear of the "needle". One look at it and he would faint. YES, FAINT. Then he got sick and got pricks. No control on it then. In Hospital one just has to. Now he tolerates them! I hope you never have to go through this. You have to face it yourself and get rid of any fear. Not just injections. Wish you best.

Hi the more you panick the worse your fear of needles will get, needled dont even hurt nowadays, you hurt yourself more if you accidetly cut your finger on something. All you have to do is just forget what you are going into the doctors for, just think your going into to see the doctor or nurse about something else, then just sit down even start a converstion with the nurse/doctor about something, and keep talking, the probably will sit you on a chair not facing them or away from them so if you are scared of needles then wont see them. and you wont even feel a thing and it will over before you know it. Im not bothered about needles and injections but I hate blood tests, the really hurt, and seeing the blood just knocks me right off, even if Im not nervous when I go in as soon as I see it in my skin and the blood I go all dizzy etc, and thats because its really sensitive there and the nurse how does mine, presses the needle when it goes in so its even worse. But onces its dont its done, you still walk out of there un harmed apart from a tiny hole you cant even see in your arm. Why not ring the doctor/nurse and tell them you dont like needles, they might make things alot more comfortable for you, when I was a school and got my injections there they face the chair away from the needle and the nurse, but nowadays they dont do this for adults as they think every one is used to them, but their not, when I went for my first blood test they lied my down I was about 11 but then since then they just sit me down and let me see everything. But if they can make special requirements then you will be fine, at the end of the day its better than getting the diseases in the end aint it.

It takes seconds to have a jab, and they will save you life.Explain to the person giving it to you that you are nervous, and maybe take a trusted friend with you. Stay off tea and coffee before you have them done as the caffeine will make you more hyper. You'll be fine, just take a deep breath and it will be over in no time.

have u ever had any piercings? injections hurt even less. there's nothing to be afraid of. it's just a needle. just look away. it takes like two seconds. yeah definitely have them separately. i once did a medical where i had to give half a litre of blood. and i was 13 years old. don't stress yourself.
