...Do I Have Herpes???? How Do I Know?
-
Well, I recently noticed that on the shaft of my penis there are this red bumps (not beneath the head) one of them hurt when I put soap on it, and looks similar to the cold sores inside the mouth. I get cold sores in my mouth, but I've never had any form of sex. I don't see how it could be this, but still it seems to be herpes, I'm a teenager, so you can imagine how embarassing it would be to have to talk to my parents, also I recently was sick and I heard that, that can be a symtom of Herpes, if this isn't herpes then what is it? Please help me, I'm scared

Answer:
Being sick could have been a coincidence. If you have a cold sore touch it then with in seconds touch your genitals then you could re-infect your self, but the chances of that happening are not likely as herpes doesn't live out side of the body for long periods of time. If you have never had oral sex or sexual intercourse then I wouldn't worry about this being herpes. Getting herpes below the waist is considered to be an std and stds are transmitted when you have oral sex or sexual intercourse with some one that has an std. It could be jock itch or an allergic reaction or in grown hairs. If you really want to know see a doctor and get the bumps tested for herpes. It's embarassing but you shouldn't be scared to talk to your parents. I think they would be ok with the fact that you trust them enough to talk with them.

CJ if you have never had sex, then you could have transferred it from your mouth, though this is not all that likely. Get it checked out before you worry about the rest.
If you never had sex before, then it's strange how you could develop herpes. Go to a doctor. If you don't feel comfortable going to a doctor, go to your local Planned Parenthood and have a free STD test done. It's 100% confidential.

Sorry to say this but sounds like you have been very unlucky and gave it to yourself. Herpes is very infectious and spread with ease. All you had to do was touch a cold sore on your month and spread it that way. It don't have to be a STI and it's very common now. More people understand it now and it's less treated as something to feel very ashamed off. Ok lets not take an ad out but it's not the end of the world. U don't have to tell your parents. But see your Doctor as maybe it's something very different. What ever way this need addressing. Good luck, fingers crossed.
