  • i recently visited a sex worker.. we had protected sex but.. i licked her vagina (not deeply, i didn't swallow any semen or vaginal fluid) she had applied sanitizer before i went down. I scared if i have chances of getting hiv.

  • Answer:

It's possible but very, very unlikely. Oral sex is generally not a good way to transmit HIV unless the "licker" has open sores within the mouth. Still, to be sure, you should have a standard set of STI (Sexually transmitted infection) profile at a place like Planned Parenthood. You need to wait a few weeks to rule out chlamydia, gonnorrhea and syphilis, all which can be transferred by oral sex because it takes time for the antibodies to develop so that a test can check for them. You need to wait about 4 weeks (though some say 2, and then return at a longer period of time) for HIV. There really is no tests for HSV (Herpes) or HPV (Venereal Warts) and further, protection (a condom) is helpful but not total protection against either of these because virus can be shed by or to areas not covered by a condom. HSV can also be transmitted from the genital region to the oral region, and HPV also can be transmitted this way. Bottom line: You are very unlikely to have contracted HIV but you stand a fairly good chance of having contracted HPV and/or HSV. I know, life's harsh these days.
