Well, really there is nothing better than getting the med that she needs. Tell her to go to the doctor, yeah maybe she isn't big on med but it will save her lots of pain and it will end alot sooner. Especially the guys because they usually don't know they have for a while. Actually 1 out of 5 people have herpes, and you know anyone can get it. I worked in a doctors office and people that only slept with like 2 or 3 people have got it, and people get cheated on, HELLO PEOPLE!!! Sometimes people that don't even sleep around get it. She's stupid not to get the medication. It can lessen the duration and the pain. Tell her that she's just being plain dumb. My gosh, there's meds for that. Stay away from her as well. She's contagious.

At the very onset of an outbreak, meds can make a difference, but by the time it is in full swing I don't find it does much good - you just have to get lots of rest and wait for it to pass. Personally, when I had my primary outbreak, which is the only painful one I've had, the only thing that did soth it was warm baths. I just lived in the bath for about a week. It really is just a case of sitting it out. And to those people who gave immature answers, herpes is not caused by promiscuity. I caught it off my first proper boyfriend giving me oral sex - he had cold sores, and my sister also caught it this way from her husband who was only her second partner. There is a one in four chance any of you have it or will catch it in your life. In fact, if you get cold sores you already have herpes and there is no difference.

there is no cure for herpes. maybe your sister should have thought of that before she started sleeping around.

I have genital herpes and I hate taking the medications. I have choose not to take them at all. The one thing I have found that helps when I am having an outbreak is Camphophenique. You can pick it up at any drug store. It comes in an oil or gel. It stings at first but then it helps with the pain. Plus, for me it helps make the sores heal faster. Hope this helps....
