I'm scared of having HIV, and I want to know if my symptoms match?
-
Hi, I had random intercourse with a women who I've convinced myself has HIV, I double wrapped like an idiot (just found out its more easy to get the disease since the friction can rip the condom) from what i saw their was no visible tear (but idk about microscopic tear) I only actually 'did it' with the girl for a good minute then pulled out and was didn't want to do it anymore. I'm not sure if this is true or not, but the night after I started sweating. I haven't been the same ever since, I'm really depressed, I keep having nightmares. I'm even think I have acute HIV symptoms. My joints are hurting now and then, I got a small rash on my eyelid, I'm fatigued all the time, don't eat much, distorted vision, my neck has this weird sensation that makes me feel like my lymph nodes are going to swell up. It's been 3 weeks that this has been going on and it's consuming my life. I'm just online all day looking up statistics, facts about the the virus. Now yesterday I thought about my 'symptoms' more rationally. The small rash can be from the General anxiety disorder pills that I've been taking, as well as fatigue (it's listed as side effects). My joints hurting could be from always leaning over the table looking for answers online for the last three week, also because I'm depressed, anxious, dehydrated, not eating correctly. My knee joints and ankle joints are having sudden pains as well nothing serious but I think it's because I got into an accident 3 months ago, got a flesh wound on my left leg that left my on crutches for 3 weeks. I'm really into working out so I started again, and my left leg might not be that strong now so that's maybe why it's hurting and my right leg has been hurting me since last October. Distorted vision can be from looking at the monitor all day. Not much activity all day. But these are all maybes. There is just so many factors that could be playing into how I am physically right now I don't know how to know if they're from acute HIV or just normal everyday things like stress for example. I already got a PCR test, it's a test that could detect the actual virus not antibodies in your blood in as short as 8 days, I got it in 11 and it came out negative. But it's not conclusive, meaning I'd have to take another test in 3-6 months to be 100% sure. I'm not satisfied with this test ,but don't think i have the courage to take another test. I'm honestly really scared, I'm studying abroad and I have no strong connections here or family and I have nobody to vent to. The doctors don't give me any advice or aren't helping much with how to cope. I'm gonna try to start living like how I did before this fear has consumed me and see if the 'symptoms' go away. Right now it just seems like I'm venting, and I am but I would like anyone who has any knowledge on HIV or words of inspiration something. I've asked my friends on facebook and some here but they're just telling me I'm "tripping". Now I would just like to know if... 1) Does it sound like I have acute HIV? 2) Do I just sound neurotic/unreasonable on the whole thing 3) Does anybody know how the joint pain is suppose to feel? All I read is joint pain online, I doesn't list if it's chronic or how painful it is. Because mine doesn't hurt much only when I'm walking or standing up. Also comes along with flu, which I don't have 4) Do you think the PCR test result was enough?? That's it, thank you to anybody who gave me some answers, I know I sound really crazy right now but three weeks of isolation, and fear will do that to a 20 year old who has his whole life ahead of him and who doesn't want to be diagnosed with a virus that will ultimately end him. Words of inspiration and or more profound knowledge of the symptoms much needed. Thanks again and god bless

Answer:
Some people who become infected with HIV do not notice any immediate change in their health. However, some suffer from a brief flu-like illness within a few weeks of becoming infected, or develop a rash or swollen glands. These symptoms do not indicate the development of AIDS, and the symptoms usually disappear within a few days or weeks. If in doubt get tested.

Hey you could try taking the NAT test if that's not the same as the PCR. It's an extra sensitive HIV test that I believe will detect it between one or two weeks of contracting it. You could try that if it would make u feel better.
