Can you get hiv from toilet water splash?

  • Please help me with my concerns. I was waiting in line to use a toilet yesterday. So I used a toilet right after another woman came out. Then while I was piping, the toilet water splashed on my private. The amount of toilet water splash was significant. I am now worrying whether I can get hiv from the toilet water. Although the toilet was flushed once by the former user, I am not sure whether the water was completely changed and I used the toilet right after another woman. Am I at risk of contacting hiv in this way? Also, I didn't take a shower right after the water splashing. I only wipe myself and left. I had to wait until last night when I got home to take a shower. I am not really really worried. Thanks for your help!

Yes, it is quite possible, sadly, even likely that you have been exposed to a very virulent strain of HIV. As we all know, toilet water only adds to the communicability of HIV. Flushing does not appreciabley dilute the strength of the virus. You should have taken a shower right away!! Along with a good scrubbing with gasoline and Drano. Don't they teach you this in school?????!!!!!! Good luck. You're going to need it.

The chances of getting HIV is very unlikely with toilet water. You can only get infected by HIV mainly through contact with blood.

It is very unlikely that you are going to catch HIV from a public bathroom. The most common way to catch HIV is coming in direct contact with body fluids [blood, semen, vomit, feces, urine].
