Is it possible to be allergic to silicon earrings?

Am I allergic to earrings? What should I do?

  • I got my ears pierced when I was 13. I use to wear earrings all the time (the cheap ones but they are labelled hypoallergenic) and I had no problems at all. However when I was 17 my ear lobes use to swell and bleed when I wore earrings for over a day and I had no idea why and didn't think it could be because I was allergic to them since I was fine wearing earrings everyday for the past 4 years. I only wore earrings maybe about 5 times a year only for like half a day or else my ears lobes would get swollen and sore. I even brought a $99 pair of earrings (I think it's sterling silver but I'm not sure) and my lobes would swell up.. I want to get my cartilage pierced and I'm scared that the earring given will cause a reaction and scarring. Any suggestions? I think I'm allergic to earrings but I don't understand why I was fine for the first 4 years and I'm not sure what material I'm allergic too.. I don't know what to do anymore

  • Answer:

i had your problem when i was 13, and my mom used a sponge pasted with soy sauce to relief the pain. and i can wear all the earrings no matter it's cheap, silver or gold. Maybe you could try that. Get better!

Most of the time people get allergic to thing later on in life. Even if you ate or wore something in the past it doesn't mean you can't develop an allergic reaction to it.
