Why does my skin turn purple when I'm cold?

Red/purple skin issues? anyone...?

• im a 19 year old male 6 foot and 150 pounds. i have very red/purple tinted skin depending on different variables at any given times. its mostly my hands knees and feet. i go tanning and get really dark and eventually look really tan but until i get there im dark red purple tint but its not burnt. i use to play sports growing up and never noticed anything now anytime i do any physical activity i turn bright red and purple also when im too hot or too cold. my dad has some red coloration to his skin but nothing the way i do. if mentioned it to my doctor and she had no concern but i do because its embarassing and i wish i could have normal skin so people didnt point it out. does anyone know of anything i can do on my own besides exercise for circulation or is it something else? any information is helpful
