Hi Jordan. Acne - Blackheads & WhiteheadsAcne is the most common skin disease treated by physicians. It is a chronic condition that affects over 85% of adolescents and young adults. One study showed that two-thirds of teenagers with acne wanted to talk to their physician about their acne, but only one-third actually did. TYPES OF ACNE Not all acne is the same. Simplistically, acne can be divided into red bumps and blackheads/whiteheads. This division is important because each type is treated differently. Blackheads and whiteheads, known as comedones, can be more numerous on the face and shoulders than red bumps filled with pus. Good, consistent skin hygiene can help improve this condition. Therefore, knowing more about what causes comedones and how to treat them is a step towards clearer skin. WHY DOES ACNE OCCUR ? BLACKHEADS Blackheads, also known as open comedones, are follicles that have a wider than normal opening. They are filled with plugs of sebum and sloughed-off cells and have undergone a chemical reaction resulting in the oxidation of melanin. This gives the material in the follicle the typical black color. WHITEHEADS Whiteheads, also known as closed comedones, are follicles that are filled with the same material, but have only a microscopic opening to the skin surface. Since the air cannot reach the follicle, the material is not oxidized, and remains white. SKIN CARE FOR BLACKHEADS AND WHITEHEADS The key to skin care for acne is consistency. An overnight cure has not been found. But using good skin care methods aids in the daily, steady improvement of follicle health. Since acne is not caused by eating certain foods, restricting the diet is not helpful. Since it is also not caused by "dirty" skin, excessively scrubbing does not help and can even make the skin more irritated. The best skin care for comedones consists of once-a-day cleansing with a mild soap or facial scrub to aid in the removal of excess sebum and dead skin cells. Oil-based makeup should not be used since these can contribute to the buildup of oil in the follicles. Water-based makeup labeled as non-comedogenic can be used safely. TREATMENT FOR BLACKHEADS AND WHITEHEADS Treatment of whiteheads and blackheads takes time. Most treatments take several weeks to months before a noticeable change is seen. BENZOYL PEROXIDE Benzoyl peroxide has an antibacterial effect and may also decrease the chemical reaction that changes the lining of the hair follicle. This may help reduce the plugging that causes comedones. Benzoyl peroxide may be used for a mild case of comedones or to help prevent formation of others. TRETINOIN (RETIN-A) Tretinoin (Retin-A, Avita, Renova) is the mainstay of treatment for whiteheads and blackheads. Tretinoin is a derivative of vitamin A and works by increasing cell turnover and reducing the "stickiness" of the sloughed cells. It helps expel the plugged material returning the pore to normal. Tretinoin can be irritating, so specific instructions on how to use it can be found here. ANTIBIOTICS Prescription topical antibiotics or oral antibiotics might be used if some of the blackheads and whiteheads are infected, but antibiotics do not help with comedones that are not infected. ISOTRETINOIN (ACCUTANE) Isotretinoin (Accutane) is used for severe cystic acne and has many side effects. It is very effective for comedones when used properly, but is not usually prescribed for mild acne of either type. EXTRACTION Extraction may be used by a health care provider on open comedones. This process is performed using a device called a comedone extractor. This is a small, metal, circular instrument that is centered on the comedone and pushes down the surrounding skin, causing the plug to extrude. NO NEED TO SUFFER Whiteheads and blackheads are types of acne that affect many people. There are good treatment options available, so there is no need to suffer with this condition in silence. A primary care provider can initiate treatment for acne and follow mild to moderate cases. Severe cases or those resistant to treatment should be seen by a dermatologist. Regards. Take Care.

Although there are many acne treatments, but the best that I have used and found to work is Zenmed's Derma Cleanse Acne System. The system consists of three products, a facial cleanser, an acne gel and capsules. While the cleanser and the gel help to remove acne from the skins surface, the capsules which are very easy to swallow fight acne from the source and also work to cleanse, detoxify and relax the body. This not only helps heal current acne, it also helps to prevent future breakouts and quick re-occurrence. Initially when you switch from one acne treatment to another, there is always a possibility of the skin reacting to the changes but this happens for a few days or the most a week, till your skin adjusts to the new product. An important point to remember that only treatment doesn't help to get rid of acne, you need to take care of your skin and body. Drinking lots of water helps to flush out toxins from the body which cause acne. Sleep well and try to be stress free as much as possible. Avoid too much of oily and junk food and have more of salads and green leafy veggies. zenmed.com

I've been in that situation and there is really nothing you can do about it. There are things you can do to try to reduce the blemishes and get rid of acne/pimples temporarily but you will always be finding yourself cleaning your face or your body depending on where it's at. I mean of course your acne should go away eventually but for some this is the case their whole life. I'm 29 years old and have been suffering from these little pests since I was a teenager. I tried all sorts of face washes from the local grocery store and what not, but nothing seemed to work. If anything it would just make my skin dry and itchy. Literally the best acne face wash I've ever used has been this stuff called clearpores. It has got rid of the acne to quickest and has been a success ever since I got it. It's unique cause of it's herbal supplement you take a long with it that helps your skin from the inside out. I saved money on it at skincleansingsystem.com at the time which was helpful. You should really look into this stuff and if you can to assure the best results, get the 3 month supply because if it doesn't work it will still save you butt on the return policy. Well good luck and best wishes.
Same with you I've tried everything before. Until I visited a chinese herbal doctor he prescribed with some herbs and herbal oral pills. I've tried the herbal oral pills alone its very effective to me. In just a month pimples from face and back lessen and in 2-3 months there's no trace of any pimples at all and my skin become very smooth. It said that it cleanse the toxicin our body and heat in blood thus reduce acne. The oral pills is called Lilixiao Pimple Capsules made by PO WO TONG PHARMACEUTICAL LTD. Try to look for it at chinese drugstores. It sounds too good to be true but its true i've tried it myself and its very effective even after 3 months you stop taking it your skin will be pimple free.

sometimes there are foods that might trigger your acne. For some it could be sweets, chocolate, etc. For me, I gave up spicy foods entirely and my face has since cleared up. Make sure you use a moisturizer every day. Oh yeah I was using this anti-dandruff shampoo, but I didn't have dandruff lol but I think it irritated my skin even further as well. I switched to AXE de-glue, it works really well. I use it for my hair and face when I'm in the shower. It says it gets rid of oil and grease for hair but it works on skin too. Great product.

It's more about what is going in to your body and not what you are putting on your body. Drink loads of water, eat only pure sensible foods - avoid instant foods, eat a lot of vegetables without sauces. Cut a lemon into slices and wipe your face all over with a fresh lemon slice morning and night. I can't say enough about sensible eating ~ try it. And don't go overboard with breads and grains. Avoid sauces and mixes. Seriously. Research "clean eating" and see where that takes you.

First off, don't use SkinID, because you can get a better treatment for the same price at the dermatologist! Which is my suggestion... birth control can really lower acne, if your mom trusts you. It's not like your having sex or anything... right? So what's the problem?

A visit with a skin doctor might be in order. Sometimes nothing but a low dose antibiotic helps. He might also have some other suggestions or medications. Please consider a visit with your skin doctor.
