What are acne products that actually work?

Has anyone tried Proactiv? Does it actually work? Has anyone tried other good products against acne?

  • I saw this commercial of Proactiv today, and I was wondering if anyone has tried proactiv. I have acne, its not severe acne, but I want to have a clean face, so can proactiv help me cure acne? Anyone knows in which store I can find proactive? Whats its price? What are other creams, scrubs, lotions , etc. that are good to prevent and stop acne? What's their price and where can I get them? (Nothing to expensive, $60 or less). I have slightly oily skin. I'M MALE, 16.

  • Answer:

I am currently on Proactiv...I didn't have very severe acne, but enough to bother me to do something about it. It works great and is well worth the money. The price is around $30-$40 for a 60-day supply. As for other creams, scrubs, lotions, I haven't had any luck with really anything, including Acne pads, and spot-treatment (like in a tube)

I have never tried Proactiv, but I think it's mainly for people with severe acne (or very rich celebrities who can afford to pay $60, or more, a month...) I'm sure it does work, but I keep my face clean - I wash it twice a day, with hot water to open the pores, some kind of cleaning lotion (something from Walmart normally does the trick) and I finish with cold water. That's all the advice I can give you really. Also try to drink plenty of water, it really does help.

first of all, you cant "cure" acne. Just prevent it (for the most part). I know some people who've tried it, and it works for them... I tried it, and it didn't work. You skin could just be dry (it may seem oily, but thats because your body is creating the oily to prevent the dry) so just start putting on a daily face lotion... if thats the case, you face will start clearing up in a month or so

it works on some people

it works on most people but not all

Try it. If it doesn't help, you might need prescription meds from your dermatologist. You can't buy it in a store, only online or telephone. I think it is about $40 a month.

differin works on zits that you already have, and to prevent them, any face wash should work. just use hot water, then apply, hot water again to rinse, and cold water afterward. also, avoid eating to much oily food.

I tried Proactiv and it worked at first. But after awhile, even though I was faithful in keeping it up, it seemed to stop working. The best thing you can do is to go to a dermatologist. Depending on who you go to, it could be pricey-but try talking to your parents because it really is worth it.

I was like you and I tried Proactive. And it detroyed my skin. Now I can't get rid of the acne and it is 10 times worse. I was so upset and then I couldn't get my money back because I had thrown out the package the stuff came in. I'm sure it is just your age and Noxema or something cheap will do just as well as anything else. Proactive is not worth the money in my opinion, but it may work for you. Who knows, but I will never touch it again.
