How do I get rid of ringworm?

Is this Ringworm or Eczema and how do i get rid of it? (see photo)?

  • I have 2 patches of raised itchy reddish skin on my inner thigh? They are circular and the skin in the middle is normal? I thought it was eczema but now i think it is ringworm. They're not pus5y or anything just a bit itchy. How do i get rid? Where does it come from? I have a cat who i got from the shelter who is a bit scruffy looking and was quite bald in places when i got him (he's gorgeous tho lol), but ive had him almost 18 months and he is much improved. Could i have got it from him? I know its not really a worm but it just doesn't sound very nice!! Im going on holiday next week, do you think that the sun will help clear it up? http://www.flickr.com/photos/28299765@N02/2722908728/

It is excellent to see a photo included with a question like this. It does look rather like ringworm. many doctors hedge their bets when treating skin conditions and use 'cure alls' which contain a bit of everything. An example would be Daktacort, which is anti-fungal and contains a mild steroid and will also even retard bacterial growth. I always preferred to be a little more scientific. My advice would be to get your practice nurse to take a fungal scraping. The results of these are often very slow so I would go on my best guess and use an anti-fungal cream while I awaited the result.

That looks suspiciously like ringworm, what you need to do is go to your chemist or doctor and get an anti-fungal cream, and that will clear it up.

I can't see it to well on the photo but from what you described it sounds like a ringworm. You can get some lotramin cream from wal-mart in the pharmacy section and it takes care of them. Don't scratch it because you may spread it.

ringworm for sure. you can use tea-tree oil to dry it out but you should go to the doctor because it spreads fast. do not share towels, clothes or anything while you have it.

it looks like ringworm to me. as you know it is NOT a worm as the name suggests. it is a type of fungus. Atheletes foot is caused by the same fungus but is given a different name on the foot. you should go to the chemist/ dr and ask for a treatment cream. You shouldnt have got anything like that from your cat so dont worry! hopefully it should respond within a week. just dont scratch it as it can spread.

Sounds like ring'worm'. This is a fungal cause and responds very well to regular a. pplocations of TEA TREE OIL. Any fungus retreats from thiss great stuff. Keep it dry and moderate sun but if you sweat it will get bad. Also give your diet a break. Cut right down on anything with additives and chemicals and preservatives etc. Also no margerine wine, coffee, pork/ham/bacon/sausages for a while. Lots of fruit and veg, no wheat blah blah just eat intelligently! Get well

I had ringworm a few months ago and I would say that is what you have. When you treat it keep treating the same area for a few weeks as it can return when you think its gone.
