It started out with this cystic acne?

Why after I started working out, am I all of a sudden getting acne, on my back, chest and face?

  • Male 19 years old 170 pounds Good lean body. Before working out, When I was I was eating fast food, not really working out, and not really being active, and doing all nighters left and right, playing video games. And sadly wasn't taking that many showers. And I wasn't getting any acne at all? I had a flawless perfect face, body was fine. And once I started working out, I knew if I didn't take showers I would get acne quick. So after my work outs I would take showers and use "dove soap". And im eating right? Any idea why the hell im generating so much acne so quick? Is it because I use dove soap, which drys the skin out, so next day I work out. It makes my skin more sensitive to acne? Please help! I hate acne!

  • Answer:

Its the sweat that forms on your back from working out... You need to take a shower after and put moisturizer on your body...

well, as you already know, you're breaking out because of major sweat. It could be be because your body is so unused to working out and showering, it breaks out in response to the sudden change. Dove soap does dry out skin, and it would make it much more likely to break out. Try using a shower body lotion, maybe with some aloe or something soothing. Hope this helped.

Steroids give you horrible acne. Not saying you do them, and not sayig you should, just saying. Acne is normally caused by sweat catching dirt or foreign particles and cloggig pores, causing accumulation of pus. Obviously, they are also triggered by hormones during purberty by cells that excessively produce these hormones. Either that part of puberty is catching up, or I haven't got a clue.

It's important to shower after a vigorous workout, or any other activity that causes you to sweat. SkinEase.com reports "intense workouts can stimulate increased production of the hormone testosterone which will make the skin more acne prone." Well, for one, you sweat more when you work out than if you dont at all. You need to take thorough showers. It could be that your rinsing and not washing which really doesnt clean all the sweat off your face. And try acne creams and soaps. It could just be genetics.

Sometimes you have to look backwards. More important tho is that acne like you describe may be internally caused. I know a gal that had a dermotologist give her a powerful antibiotic called tetracycline. It worked. They use it for ulcers too.

working out makes your testosterone skyrocket. Testosterone cause more enery, more strength better sexual function. The same thing happens to me, ask a dermatologist about minocyline or something similar

because the sweat is clogging your pores.

Wow.. Thanks for asking this, man! This 'answer' probably won't generate any help for you, but I can definately relate. I'm 16, and weigh about 155.. I weighed just about equal to your weight when I started; I was trying to burn the fat and become more lean than bulky.. Anyway, I just started noticing the same sort of thing, and it's been probably a solid 8-9 weeks, and I'm starting to see my acne picking up again. Perhaps it is the soap? I use Dial, but have the same problem. I notice it mostly on the sides of my face, and upper back and chest. Wow, that was long and probably very unneccesary.. Um, thanks to anyone who actually answers this, and thank you again for asking.. Jeez. Hahahhah.
