How to get rid of a cyst ? Remedies?

How do I get rid of a cyst on my eyelid?

  • I have a small painless cyst on my eyelid. It comes and goes and im not sure what to make of it. I do get styes alot but i know the difference and this is not a stye. Its not hard to the touch, it gives a little which makes me believe that it is filled with liquid, thus my theory that it is a cyst. Can someone please help me?? I cannot afford surgery so what im looking for are home remedies if there are any available. Thank you.

  • Answer:

It sounds as though you have a chalazion, which is similar to a stye but painless and longer lasting - it can last between a few months and a few years. Unfortunately, the only surefire way to get rid of a chalazion is by using antibiotics or surgery, both of which you will need to visit your doctor for. A hot compress (clean flannel soaked in hot water and held against the eye) may work, so perhaps try this before going to the docs. Rubbing a gold ring against your eye may also help but there is no medical evidence proving this technique.

Use Johnson's baby shampoo twice a day to gently scrub your eyelids. Also, get a tube sock, fill it with rice, and put it in the microwave until it's hot, but bearable. Place it gently on your closed eyes for about 15-20 minutes. Do this several times a day. If it doesn't clear up in a week or two, see your ophthalmologist.

Put hot compresses on it a couple of times a day.
