The redness of a sunburn?

Sunburn without redness?

  • Is it possible to have a (very painful) sunburn with minimal redness? I work outside all day and rarely use sunblock (i know I know) and this morning I was in the sun longer than usual. I have SOME redness on my cheeks, but not any more than normal. However, my right cheek and the right side of my nose burns like crazy, and the only way to get it to stop is to put a cold compress on it. There are also some small bumps on the area. I also didnt notice it untill about two hours after exposure (though i have had to be in and out, but only for a few minutes at a time). Now that I am inside it doesnt burn as badly as it did a few minutes ago. I dont get sunburned often and my friends always get really red when they sunburn.

  • Answer:

Its unlikely to get burnt without redness tbh. The bumps make me wonder if you've not been bit by something. Or stung. Have you tried an antihistamine tablet? If you have been bit or stung it may take the burning away, otherwise keep the cold compress on it and apply something like aloe vera gel.
