Why do i always have cold hands?

  • Its been a major issue lately. My hands are always ice cold, even when my body or the tempurature is warm. Its also very difficult to make them warm. What could cause me to always have cold hands?

  • Answer:

I had issues with cold hands after losing a great deal of weight - it has to do with circulation and body fat. I wore some cheap gloves for a while and saw improvement after a few weeks... Here's a link about circulation - there are some great tips on things you can do at home to help.

I have cold hands a lot too and hard to get them warm. I have nerve damage (PN for peripheral neuropathy) and think that is part of the reason. When my hands are very cold a lot of the time my feet are sweating. Could be poor circulation. If you are having regular medical care check with your doctor for the cold hands could be a symptom he needs to know of.

I get that a lot.. used to wonder if it was the meds i was taking.. couldn't never get my hands warm and even on a warm day .. it was really odd.. could have been circulation but can be other things too.. it must be common there are lots of sayings about .. cold hands warm heart and so on..I don't think its any big deal .. just see if it continues if so ask you doctor but like i said dont think its a big deal

Some people just have cold hands and feet. In most cases, it means nothing. What I mean is, that it isn't a medical condition so can't be treated with anything. However, the key question is what colour do your fingers go in the cold? If they go white, then this might be a problem called 'Raynaud's disease'. This is a condition where the blood vessels shut down because of the cold and there are some medicines which might help it. However, the main reason to know that it is 'Raynaud's' is that it is important to protect your fingers from the cold as the condition means that your body is not so good at protecting itself from cold damage.

Poor circulation to your bodies extremeties.

I had ice cold hands after losing a bunch of weight too. I even worked in a steel foundry and they were cold. It wasn't a circulation problem or Raynaulds. I do wonder if it was from years of dieting as I was low in iron. Get your iron levels checked.

Because you are a nervous person.

If this is a new development for you, I'd encourage you to see your doctor to get it checked out. Raynaud's Syndrome is a disorder that causes extremely cold hands (and usually pain in the hands as well). You may also just have bad circulation in your hands, which is something you can inherit from your parents (all the women in my family have cold hands, for example).
