You get rid of sunburn overtime. Lotion makes it worse. Aloe vera works well to rid the pain. Aloe Vera Solicane works great. It's in a spray can.

Take a bath, as cool as you can stand (probably pretty cool under the circumstances) and put about a cup of baking soda in it, making sure you get the soda on the burns. Soak for about 15 minutes. Also, don't use lotions with any kind of oil in them; aloe vera gel is the best thing. Oils will sort of make it "cook" you, and can cause scarring. Good luck.

Sunburn is a burn, so only time will get rid of it. However, to relieve the pain; white vinegar. Place some cool water into a pan, about 2 cups. Add 1 cup of white vinegar. Take a wash cloth & soak in in the mixture and dab it onto your skin. Don't rub, it will make it worse. Allow to dry. Follow with aloe. Do this twice a day. Wear only very loose fitting clothing. Advil will help with pain, do not exceed recommended dose. Drink a lot of water, as burns damage your ability to regulate your body temp. And remember, sunburns cause skin cancer. Wear sunscreen everyday. Protect your skin!

Aloe Vera is wonderful. Other things: Do NOT use lotion-- most lotions contain alcohol or oils which dry out the skin and retain heat. Banana Boat has an aloe mist with lidocaine in it. I bought it last year after I sustained a particularly nasty sunburn. Spraying apple cider vinegar on the burn is particularly soothing, if you don't mind smelling like a pickle. Take as few showers/baths as you can get away with because water will wash away the good oils your skin produces that will protect the affected area. Definitely do not wash burned area with soap. Stay in shaded, cool areas as much as possible with as few clothes as you can manage on the burned area. Suffer, suffer, suffer until it goes away and then vow not to get burned again--at least for this year! :D

Aloe Vera gel. Takes the heat and sting out. Has to be the gel though

Before you use aloe vera, take a warm shower or bath. Start out warm, and get as hot as you can stand. It will hurt, but it will feel better later.

Try vinegar it takes out the sting... also solar cane works really well.
