What is wrong with my skin?

• I'm 22, I have normally somewhat dry skin. First of all, I usually wear pants or capris because I just don't like to wear shorts, and the skin on my legs doesn't see much sun. For about 8 years, since I started high school, I have had this patchy recurring rash, consisting of red, scaly, dry, sometimes swollen, sometimes severely itchy (sometimes not at all) rash on my legs. It seems to jump around and appear in different places. I have been to the doctor about it because I thought it was a ring worm because there was a huge "muffin sized" round patch. And a few semi-round patchs around my legs. I didn't think I could get it because our house is so clean and we only have one dog, a small pomeranian that never goes outside. He said it was dermatitis (ya big help, I already knew my skin was red and swollen and reacting to something, but what kind??) without a specific kind or cause. He prescribed a generic ointment which I used every day and it didn't help. Moisturizers sometimes helps with my skin but not always, it's just unpredictable and is worse in the winter. I have learned to deal with it and I don't notice it as much as I used to but it's still a pain. I'll get it on both shins mostly, never on my feet, and it will occasionally reach my thighs and rarely my trunk (it's weird I have tiny red dry patches on my stomach sometimes). I was curious because I recently discovered a patch on the back of my hand betwee my wrist and my thumb and index knuckles. The "rash" is eczema like in a appearance, and everyone in my family has had eczema in a mild form at one time or another, but it's not painful, and only itches sometimes. Sorry for writing a book, I just hope someone might have a clue what it might be. Thanks!

  Hi, Itching or rashes are symptoms of maladies that could become much worse if never healed with good choices.
