What are the common causes of irritation?

What causes underarm irritation?

  • When I use regular deodorants my underarms itch, develop bumbs, hurt, and get a little dark. I wasn't always like that. I used to use regular deodorants all the time. Now the only kind I can use it Mictchem with no scent. If I use anything else I develop the irritation again. Why causes this? Can I get rid of it and start using regular deodorants again?

  • Answer:

Some deodorants contain alcohol. Its common for people with sensitive skin to react to this. Try looking for one without alcohol in them, or one recommended for sensitive skin.

in my experience, i have found i have the most problems with anti-perspirants that contain aluminum. several months back, i stopped using deodorant/anti-perspirant & use a spray bottle with water & a couple of drops of essential oil in it to moisten my underarms, then a makeup brush to apply baking soda. my underarms NEVER break out at all now & are so smooth...best thing i've ever done for my underarms. i won't ever go back to using deod/anti-perspirant...it always clogged up my underarm pores & dried me out.

You could have an aluminum allergy or sensitivity. Check w/a derm or GP.

What caused undearm irriatation to me was when I accidentally sprayed hair spray there instead of deodarant, true story, of course my undearm hair stayed in place beautifully!

allergy to aluminum and triclosate try using nothing on a weekend then use an Almay or hypo allergenic produict

god knows and sees else Yahoo

It's too dried out that's what causes it. Put some cocoa butter under your arms for a couple nights or neosporin if they're really bad and then go back to using your deodorant.
