Does Tazorac help with acne scars?

ACNE AND Acne scars help!?!?! please.?

  • i started getting severe acne since summer 2008. which was the summer after i graduated from high school. is it normal to break out so much after high school? don't most people break out during high school to middle school? i'm so scared that since i broke out so late that my acne is going to last forever! i am so scared!! & since i've had acne for about two years already ... i have ALOT of acne scars. they're like super dark brown spots all over my face, and it hasn't really faded for a while. i'm so scared it's going to be there forever too. I used to have super big cystic acne but now i have a lot of white heads all over my cheeks and chin. i break out ALOT two weeks before my period. does anyone know how to lessen the break out around my period and clear acne scars? how long does acne usually last for?? i'm also currently taking ortho tri cyclen lo to help me with my acne my doctor won't prescribe the regular ortho tri cyclen because i might have alot of side effects. does birth control postpone your acne as well?? help please! i am so worried =(. acne is taking over my life. i can't go out of the housee without make up, or see anyone without make up... and people think i'm rude or mean when my friends come over and i refuse to see them because i'm so self concious. and i'm so embarassed to tell them why i'm afraid to see them too.. HELP ME!! =( my boyfriend broke up with me because i was so insecure. till this day, he still doesn't know why i was so insecure. everytime he visited me at home i wouldnt want to see him because i happened to have no make up on. so i pushed him away. everytime i slept over at his house, i would wake up SUPER early in the morning just to go home to reapply my make up because my make up has melted off and i need to put my make up over just to cover my pimples and acne scars..... it's REALLY taking over my life. i dont know what to do ..

yes unfortunately acne is in the genes, I am mid 20s and still get breakouts but in different places eg I used to get spots on my nose and chin but now I get them along my jawbone and cheeks. I stilldo what you described- I cannot leave the house without makeup, I refuse to see people when I don't have makeup on and I would go to bed with concealer on so my boyfriend wouldn't notice... To people it looks like I am very vain but I am ashamed of how I look.  I try to eat and drink healthily, I find it really helps. Bio-oil is great to help scars fade and it's cheap and you can get it in most shops. Certain birth control pills help too but they are usually a side effect as their main purpose is to control the hormones that make you have periods/get pregnant etc. Ask your doctor... They may put you on a trial to see if it works. The only downside of that is if you decide to stop the Pill your acne may flare up worse after stopping.  You may be lucky and your acne will calm down after a while or goes with age. I have tried everything I have recommended to you and in the end it is what works for you. I have learnt to accept that this is how my skin is and I have to work with it, not hate it. Sometimes you are your worst critic and in the mirror you may see a face full of red pimples and faded scars but it is in NO way that bad when people see you. Really.  Work on your confidence and in turn that will make you more comfortable with your own skin.

Im very sorry to hear of your experience and what you go through every day. Im going to likely cop a lot of negativity for what im about to write, from people totally against this, and from organisations trying to ban the medication. BUT, when you're at the stage like you are, and what I too was at, I simply HAVE to tell you about it. I take Roaccutane. If I could sum it up in a few short words which i often do.... "Roaccutane is God's gift to acne sufferers." It has COMPLETELY cleared ALL acne of my back and arms and chest. AND my face. It took several weeks, but right now i COULD NOT be more HAPPY about the results!!! It has taken several months for all the scars to naturally fade over time. But they are going and gone. (Yes there was HEAPS, ugh!!). There ARE side effects. Serious ones! There are anti-Roaccutane groups and forums and people out there. But, there are ALSO a swarm of happy, relieved, and successfully treated patients who now have their lives and happiness back on track due to the high success rate of clearing VERY bad acne. Note: Roaccutane is ONLY for chronic or cystic acne. You MUST try ALL other acne methods out there first!! Im serious. There are tablets that do work for acne. Unfortunately, for me, they did not, so I pleaded for Roaccutane. It is ONE OPTION, Do LOTS of research. Read lots of unbiased blogs and forums. See your doctor. Ultimately, you CAN be refused treatment on it. So its dependant on the severity of your case. It is the LAST resort once everything has been tried. So dont lose hope, try everything else. At the end of the day, this is the final solution and it works. I also have to say, dont follow my advise, take it as one persons view, and do YOUR own research and make your own decision. Dont ever do it just because I suggested it as a method. .
