What could cause this rash?

  • Hi, I've recently developed a sore lumpy and very red body rash in the past few days. It gets worse when im hot however last night I kept cool(well freezing cold actually) and the rash was still there, and angrier than before. I recently got a new mattress however there is a cotton protector and fitted sheet between me and the actual matress so I don't think it could be that. I've been using persil non bio washing powder, however ive heard this can still cause people with sensitive skin to rash. Is this true? I've not been anywhere or done anything out of the ordinary so i'm very perplexed. Sorry I can't give anymore information, just hope someone can point me in the right direction. Also does anyone know of anything that can help soothe the itching? Sudocrem and E45 are out as they bring me out in a rash:( Thanks

    Soothe itching: hydrocortisone cream, oatmeal bath antihistamines: benadryl, pepcid, claritin... Removing the trigger should resolve the hives (urticaria) in a few days or weeks depending on how severe. Lanacane is specifically for itching and available over the counter ... however, if the rash continues to be so severe maybe a trip to the Dr's is in order. Anti histamines might help but I realize you need to find the cause of the problem. I'm assuming you washed out the cotton protector and fitted sheet before using them? Good luck.
