Is chromosomal testing and gene testing the same thing?

• My daughter has had blood work done for chromosomal testing and might require a blood test for CF, I'm told that it's gene testing, but I'm not sure if it's the same thing or not.

  yes it sort of is but chromosomat testing is more general it gives you the probability of being a carrier for the gene marker gene testing tests the alleles being carried on that particular chromosome also CF is recessive sex linked traits so you are more likly to show the disorder if you are a male because it is carried on a defective x chropmosome girls have 2 x chromosomes so if the disorder is inherritied recessivly like CF is a girl would have to have 2 defective X chromosmes for her to have CF try looking at your family history for a clue and maybe talk to a professional
