Is it possible to have grown a deviated septum over the years?

Is it necessary to correct a deviated septum?

  • Hey, I'm 16 years old, and although I have yet to be diagnosed, I'm pretty sure I have a deviated septum. I just want to know, is it necessary to have it corrected? It only causes me discomfort when my allergies are acting up, I can't breathe out of that nostril at all. Normally, I can breathe out of both, but one nostril definitely doesn't inhale as much air as the other one. I'm mainly worried that it could cause sleep apnea or something and stunt my growth due to lack of sleep. Is that likely? Or should I just ignore my deviated septum until it gives me real breathing problems?

  • Answer:

a deviated septum? I can breathe out of both, but one nostril definitely doesn't inhale as much air as the other one.
