How long does ventolin and seretide take to work?

• i had asthma when i was really little, like 2 or 3. then since then i had nothing. but last year it started to flare up again, and the dr put me on ventolin. it never got really bad so i could usually manage it, but would take the ventolin to just get a bit more relief. but recently ive been coughing alot, to the point i turned blue. went to the doctors, she thought it was whooping cough and put me on antibiotics. that was about 3 weeks ago i think, still been coughing alot since then and she did the test for whooping cough but aparently after coughing for a while the test is no use....i was coughing for a good 2 weeks before i went to the dr since im a stubborn 16 year old....went back to the doctors yesterday. test came back negative but im still coughing alot and had alot of trouble breathing. so she put me on ventolin and the seretide inhaler. i know the seretide is a preventor, how long does that usually take to work? and the ventolin, how long does that usually take to work? the doc said that since i had asthma as a kid, my lungs are more sensitive than the average person so a minor chest infection can be made worse by it all. so how long do they take to work?

  The Serotide takes about 5-7 days....one puff twice per day. Additional puffs will not help. The Ventolin, of course works immediately but might have to repeated several times...eg..2 puffs every 10 mins...x 3....there should be a follow up visit in a bout a week, according to the hisory you gave in your question.
