Tips for running a mile in a gym?

Winter running tips for asthmatics?

  • Just last month I was running 6 miles a day. 2x 3mile runs in 19mins each. Since the snow, even though it's gone now, I can barely run a mile without getting that tight feeling in my chest and needing to stop. I'd consider myself fit I work out in the gym, go to strength and conditioning classes 4x a week, train in mma + sparring twice a week. I have no problems with exercise asthma or any other time in winter. Only when running outside in winter. I've tried lunchtime runs when the air is warmer but it doesn't help. If I'm running till my lungs fail, will the distance it takes before my lungs fail gradually increase? Any pre run tips and tips for during my run?

  • Answer:

Try wearing a scarf around your mouth. Maybe by breathing the air which has been warmed and filtered through the scarf will cause your symptoms to be lessened.
