Why does a nose run when you have a cold?

Why does your nose run when you catch a cold?

  • just trying to figure out why my nose wont stop running? what causes the nose to become stuffy?

  • Answer:

When one has the common cold, or coryza, as it is also known, cells that are in your upper respiratory tract are being destroyed. The stuff that is consistently running out of your nose is a mixture of dead organelles and parts of the cell. When you have coryza, your nose becomes inflammed, causing the nose to become stuffy and blocked.
