I have laryngitis is it safe for me to go to work.

So, I think I got laryngitis?

I've had it for quite a few days now, and YES, I'll be going to a doctor, but I wanted to know if it would be wise to go out in public with my voice being almost not there? I'm asking, because I work with a theater group backstage, and have a rehearsal coming up. Would it be a bad thing to go? Thanks for advice.

    My ex got laryngitis....twas the best 3 days of my life 'cause she couldn't say anything.... My current says that she knew someone who had laryngitis and didn't rest the voice and for the rest of life, this lady who didn't rest the voice, always sounded horse after that episode.... My advice.... 1] gargle with salt water- bugs hate salty enviorments 2] when the voice don't want to perform, rest it....listen to the body...there is a reason for that.... 3] wrap your throat at night in a scarf to keep it warm...while you sleep...

laryngitis is a virus and you can pass it on to everyone else... and its always best to stay away from places that you would have to use your voice.. i had this once when training a group of young recruits, pain in the butt..i could barely whisper let alone scream my head off at them... gargle with salt water too it helps reduce the swelling,, tastes like crap but it helps

As warrior mama, I would also advise you from attempting to use your "non-voice" because it could cause serious damage. Last winter I lost my voice completely for six weeks--no sore throat, no cough, no cold-- just no voice. I began to worry about why it was lasting so long or if I would ever speak again. Just a couple of days before seeing a specialist, boom! I had a voice! Weird, eh? I was speechless!

If you say you are gonna be going to the doctor try taking some honey with lemon to soothe the throat, there are also those drops called Menthol Liptus to suck on, try it see what happens
