Is using an expired inhaler bad for you?

I've been having breathing problems. Ive' been using an inhaler, but the doc didn't precribe it. Is that ok?

  • Ok I dont know what this box is for, so im going to continue talking. (First time on Yahooanswers.com) The doctor didnt tell me to use an inhaler, but ive been using it for 4 months now. (I havnt told him because I havnt seen him and every time i want to see him, my appointment gets cancled from some reason). I always have to use it at pratty much the same times every day. Once in the morning at about 7:00AM before I go to school, and usually around 8:00PM at night. I don't really run around a lot or anything to cause this.(I don't think its Asthma, ether) Now here is my question: Is it ok to keep using the inhaler, or should I stop using it and tell the doctor immeadietly?

  • Answer:

It's never a good idea to use medications that weren't prescibe for you. You really need to see your doctor about that and find out why you're having breathing problems. Then get the proper treatment.

Go see the doc, tell him you have been buying over-the counter inhalers and why. He will probally prescribe you one, that will be better for you and wont have that harsh taste the over counter ones have.

Stop using the inhaler. Inhalers often have cardiac effects, deadly ones. Niki Taylor's sister (model) died from unprescribed inhaler use. See the doc ASAP, this isn't something you want to self-treat.
