What is the remedy to prevent snoring?

HOW DO YOU PREVENT SNORING WHILE SLEEPING ? I hope I spelled snoring right?

  • snoring

  • Answer:

Snoring CAN be related to weight gain, but many slender people snore as well. There may be a genetic component. Snoring can be a symptom of a very serious disorder called sleep apnea, which can, if untreated, lead to heart damage and even death. If you snore softly once in a while, then this is probably not apnea, but if you shake the house, snore like a bear, and drive your spouse to the guest bedroom, then apnea is a distinct probability. Sounds like you are sharing a room with someone who is in the second group, so he needs medical help, not poking, smothering, or kicking! Apnea is usually treated with the use of a device called a CPAP. He can't just buy one of these - they are sold only on prescription, as the pressure needs to be adjusted to his individual needs, with too high pressure being as dangerous as too low. CPAP stops snoring 100% and usually makes the patient feel generally more energetic and alert during the day as well. Please get him to ask his doctor to refer him to a sleep clinic right away. They usually have a long waiting list, and it's important to get the process started ASAP.

If you have trouble with snorning you should see your doc to get tested for sleep apnea first. If the sleep study shows you don't have any sleep apnea then you can try things like nasal strips to hold you passages open or lying in different positions to sleep etc. First get tested for sleep apnea.

keep your airways clear so you can breath properly

See a doctor about it, your nose might need an operation. you can also check your pillow, do not eat late at night and do not sleep on your back, these are little things you can try.

Sleep of your side, and keep your airways clear.

Don't sleep on your back! make sure you keep airways clear, breath through your nose, not your mouth, deep smooth breaths etc....... hope it helps!

Breathe Right strips. I told my husband two years ago to try the strips OR I wanted my own room! He chose the strips, it was cheaper, and I had to get used to not hearing him even breathe while sleeping, that's how much of a difference they made! And, I don't understand how, but now he doesn't need them all the time. Good luck.

though several tempting home remedies come to mind(pushing her off the bed,Seran wrap, that giant wooden hammer in carnivals, resurrecting a mummy to squish her head)-my experience with people i know who do is to make them turn on their side.Snorer's(like my brother in law,i was 7 & he sounded like he was gonna turn into a "loup garouu"(vervulf)..."caaaan't screamm...Mmm-om??")usually sleep flat on their backs or- supine(tummies),turnin on their sides somehow open up their nasal passages or something but from my experience ALWAYS WORKS.(my ex is shaking her fist somewhere in Korea). I noticed it's when someone has a really, really long day.Or had a heavy dinner.Or was having a heavy dinner that whole day.....

Try to avoid sleeping on your back. Attach a golf/ping-pong ball to the back of your sleep clothes(If you wear any!!) I know it sounds odd, but it does deter you from lying on your back, sleeping on your side does reduce the possibilityof snoring. ps yes you did spell it right !!!
