Why does my lungs hurt when i cough?

  It sounds like you have bronchitis. I have had it on & off since I was a kid (I'm now 50 yrs old). Since it has gotten to the point where your lungs hurt and you get dizzy, it is time to see a doctor because you will need to take an antibiotic for a week or two to get rid of it completely. It takes a good 2 or 3 weeks before it is completely gone, because it is slow to get out of your system. Don't let it get any worse. In the meantime, take a cough syrup with an Expectorant. That will help loosen the phlegm in your lungs and you'll be able to cough it up. It will still hurt though, so cough carefully. Also, make sure to take it as directed on the package. Robitussin brand works very well for me. Another thing you can do is take TheraFlu every 6 or 8 hours and get a lot of sleep/rest. Good luck - remember to go to the doctor - DO NOT let it get worse because it could turn into pneumonia.
